He was loading salt hay on schooners and was attempting to escape the marshes during the great storm. He was with Daniel Earl who also drowned. Body was decompossed and eaten by crabs, but could be identified from the loss of toes, which were frozen off during the war (Civil War?) He left a wife and three children in destitute circumstances.
